Ashleigh Barty is one step closer to winning her first title at the Australian Open: The world number one defeated the American Amanda Anisimova in two sets 6: 4 and 6: 3 after 1:14 hours of play in the round of 16. It is the Australian's fourth appearance in the quarterfinals. Her best result at her home major so far was a semi-final appearance in 2020. Now Jessica Pegula is up against a player from the USA again. The lady from Buffalo, New York, seeded 21st, also prevailed in two sets against the Greek Maria Sakkari.
