What a match! Matteo Berrettini defeated Carlos Alcaraz in five sets

After endless back and forth at the highest level, it was only fair that the famous game between Carlos Alcaraz and Matteo Berrettini had to be decided in the tie-break of the fifth set. And that has been played out at the Australian Open for a few years in the style of a match tiebreak, i.e. up to ten.

Berrettini managed the first mini-break to make it 6:4. And that was enough for the Roman. After a playing time of 4:10 hours, Alcaraz was able to congratulate Berrettini on the 6: 2, 7: 6 (3), 4: 6, 2: 6 and 7: 6 (5). The conclusion, a double fault by Carlos Alcaraz, was then no longer appropriate to the level of the game.

There was drama early in the fifth set when Berrettini fell on the baseline and briefly grabbed his ankle. The Italian didn't just stand up, he also kept serving with his serve. And had his first match ball as a setback when the score was 6:5. Alcaraz, only 18 years old, fended off.

The next opponent was determined at the same time in the encounter between Pablo Carreno Busta and Sebastian Korda.
