Australian Open: Dennis Novak is defeated by Adrian Mannarino in three sets

For the Austrian tennis fans it became interesting for the first time at the beginning of the Australian Open 2021: Dennis Novak had to deal with Adrian Mannarino, who was 32nd. The man from Wiener Neustadt had never played against the French before.
The world number 100. Not least because of this, needed some time to adjust to his opponent's uncomfortable game. Accordingly, set one went 6-2 to Mannarino after just 24 minutes.
Novak found the game a little better in the second round and immediately took the serve from the French to make it 2-0. However, the Lower Austrian's joy did not last too long. Mannarino managed two breaks within a very short time and shortly afterwards also bagged the second set with 6: 4.
Still no main draw win at the Australian Open
In the third section, the few spectators on Court 16 saw a similar picture. Novak broke again in the 33-year-old's first service game, again the lead did not last long. To make matters worse, the Austrian also knuckled over in the seventh game of the third set and had to undergo a treatment break on his left foot.
Although Novak secured the game to 4: 3, the 27-year-old was apparently affected by the injury. Despite a few half-chances for his opponent, the Austrian saved himself in the tiebreak, in which he however drew the short straw with 2: 7. After 2:21 hours, Mannarino's 6: 2, 6: 4 and 7: 6 (2) success was fixed.
So Novak has to wait for his first win in the main draw of the Australian Open. Mannarino meets Miomir Kecmanovic or Kamil Majchrzak in the second round.
