In the run-up to the Australian Open in Melbourne, two other professionals tested positive. This increases the number of people directly involved in the tournament and who tested positive to ten. Lisa Neville, Police Minister for the Australian state of Victoria, confirmed the new cases on Wednesday.

Neville also announced that the infected people are two tennis professionals who have not been allowed to leave their room even for training purposes since arriving in Melbourne. Germany's top player Angelique Kerber is also in this strict 14-day quarantine, but she is not one of the two people who tested positive. This was confirmed by her management on Wednesday morning on SID request.

So far, more than 1000 players, coaches and supervisors have arrived in Melbourne on 17 charter flights. There were some people on the planes from Los Angeles and Dubai who tested positive after arrival. One of the passengers from Dubai was Angelique Kerber.
