At least on the men's side, it is the duel that almost guarantees world-class tennis: Jan-Lennard Struff demands Novak Djokovic in the first round. And because the organizers want it, fans can already enjoy this first-round crash on the first day of the Australian Open.

With Roger Federer, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Matteo Berrettini, other heavyweights will already be in action on Monday. The players in the lower half also have the advantage of having one day more break before the big final than their opponents of the final.

Rafael Nadal, Daniil Medvedev and Dominic Thiem will therefore only play their first match on Tuesday. The most difficult task is probably waiting for the Russian, who will open against last year's quarter finalist Frances Tiafoe. Nadal plays against Hugo Dellien, Thiem faces favorite opponent Adrian Mannarino .

New edition between Gauff and V. Williams

Unlike the men, the players in the top half will be on duty on Monday. Among other things, world number one Ashleigh Barty, defending champion Naomi Osaka and Serena Williams will contest their opening game on the first day of the tournament.

In addition, the generation duel between Coco Gauff and Venus Williams will be reissued on Monday. The 15-year-old Gauff had sensationally defeated her idol at Wimbledon . Caroline Wozniacki, who will end her career after the Australian Open, is already playing on January 20.

But the women's program is also impressive on the second day of the tournament. On Tuesday, spectators can watch the duels between Karolina Pliskova and Kristina Mladenovic or Donna Vekic and Maria Sharapova.
