The 32-year-old from Cologne and his Australian partner John Peers defeated Alex Bolt/Luke Saville (Australia) 6-0, 6-3. In the round of the last eight, Mies and Peers meet Marcel Granollers/Horacio Zeballos (Spain/Argentina), who are eighth.

Last year, Mies started with Kevin Krawietz in Melbourne and was eliminated in the round of 16. At the end of 2022, the two-time French Open winners announced their separation. Krawietz will play with Frankfurter Tim Pütz in the future.
