Mixed feelings with the German double aces on Saturday at the Australian Open: At the start of the sixth day of the first major event on the fifth continent, Jan-Lennard Struff and Dominik Koepfer suffered a bitter defeat. In the second round of the doubles competition, the German duo was beaten in three sets by the two South Americans Ariel Behar and Gonzalo Escobar.

The match day went better for Tim Pütz, who serves alongside local hero Michael Venus in Melbourne. For the 34-year-old, the clash between the two individual players Hugo Gaston and Roberto Carballes Baena turned into a celebration: Venus/Pütz secured their ticket for round three with just five game losses.

Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies had already been able to buy their third-round ticket on Friday.
