Australian Open draw: Osaka, Serena, Halep in the lower half
The draw for the women at the Australian Open 2021 brought some potential hits, especially in the lower half. Right in the middle: Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka .

The potential quarter-finals look like this: Ashleigh Barty, number one, would face Karolina Pliskova in the quarter-finals. The second quarter-finals in the top half would be Elina Svitolina against defending champion Sofia Kenin according to the seeding list.
In the lower half there would be a meeting between Naomi Osaka and Bianca Andreescu in the round of the last eight - and between Simona Halep and Aryna Sabalenka. However: Sabalenka would meet Serena Williams in the round of 16, Halep against French Open winner Iga Swiatek.
Angelique Kerber enters the tournament as number 23, starting with Bernarda Pera from the USA. The best German player was drawn to the branch of Garbine Muguruza, who she could meet in round three. Andrea Petkovic opens against Ons Jabeur.
