TV enthusiasts are delighted with the great deal between Eurosport and Tennis Australia.

Really good news for all TV junkies with a penchant for tennis: Eurosport has secured the rights to broadcast the Australian Open live up to and including 2031. The company Discovery, which also owns the TV special-interest broadcaster Eurosport, agreed with the host of the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, Tennis Australia, to extend the contract by a full ten years. Eurosport has had the rights to the historic mega-event in the southern hemisphere since 1995.

"Eurosport has been helping bring the best of the Australian Open to Europe for more than 25 years, and we are delighted to be extending and expanding this historic partnership," said Tournament Director Craig Tiley about the delightful deal. The negotiated package not only includes the linear TV rights, but also includes all digital rights.

Boris Becker is also delighted

TV expert Boris Becker was also delighted: “I am particularly pleased that Eurosport will be able to broadcast the Australian Open for the next ten years. For me personally, it's the Happy Slam. I think I speak for everyone in the tennis community. It's the first major of the year. After a long winter break, you come back to sun-drenched Melbourne. We are looking forward to seeing, commenting and moderating the tennis matches again. "

From a player's point of view, Becker has fond memories of the Grand Slam event in “Down Under”, as his win in 1996 was the last major success of his impressive career.
