It was a great match between Fabio Fognini and Salvatore Caruso in the John Cain Arena. The two Italians fought for every point for almost four hours, a forecast was not possible until the last rally. In the end it was Fognini who prevailed after defending a match ball and won the game 4: 6, 6: 2, 3: 6, 6: 3 and 7: 6 (12).
What followed immediately after the end of the match was an inglorious end to the epic five-sentence battle. "You were damn lucky, you should apologize," said Fognini during the handshake. The world number 17. had identified "four identical, lucky points" of his opponent and apparently not yet forgotten them despite the victory.

Caruso reacted with incomprehension to the statements of his compatriot: "I didn't say a word during the entire game." The debate should then continue for a short time before the loser said to Fognini: "I tell you that this is not the right behavior because I did not say a single word to you. Let's say that I did not say that about you Expected."
Caruso wants to seek clarification
"What didn't you expect? I told you that you were happy and you didn't like that. What should I say?" Countered Fognini. In the end, the two could no longer agree on the court. Caruso left after a further statement by Fognini ("What is the problem?").
As Caruso announced in the press conference that followed, he wanted to talk to him in the next few days because of his friendship with Fognini - which the 33-year-old also highlighted in front of the crowd of journalists. First of all, Fognini will probably concentrate fully on his third-round match against the Australian Alex de Minaur. Because in this one too it could get extremely hot again.
