The end result didn't really reflect how close the first round was in the duel between Daria Kasatkina and Iga Swiatek. The Pole had the better solutions ready in the decisive moments, managed two more breaks than her opponent and made it 6: 2 to 1: 0 sets.

In the second round it was - as so often - a long game in which Swiatek should secure the early break. The seventh in the world rankings made the early break to make it 2-0, but had to accept the rebreak immediately. Only a short setback for the Pole, who presented another break a little later.

Swiatek didn't let that go away, who finally made the 6: 2 and 6: 3 success perfect after just over an hour and a half and now meets the winner of the duel between Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Sorana Cristea. Already in the night (CET) Simona Halep, Aryna Sabalenka and Elise Mertens were able to celebrate favorites victories.
