Madison Keys' run of success in Australia continues. The American, who won the title in Adelaide last week, surprisingly won 6-3 and 6-1 against Paula Badosa in the round of 16 of the Australian Open 2022. Badosa, seeded eighth in the first major of the year, had won the pre-season tournament in Sydney. In the final against Barbora Krejcikova, by the way.
And the Czech, winner of the French Open last year, has also qualified for the round of eight. Krejcikova ended Victoria Azarenka's ambitions for a third title in Melbourne with a convincing 6:2 and 6:2.
Tournament favorite Ashleigh Barty contests the first match of the night session at Rod Laver Arena. Barty meets America's Amanda Anisimova, who beat defending champion Naomi Osaka in round three.
