Australian Open: Matteo Berrettini and Gael Monfils in the last eight
Both Matteo Berrettini and Gael Monfils are in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open after three sets and meet there.

At 11:15 p.m. local time, Matteo Berrettini scored his first match point in the round of 16 of the Grand Slam tournament in Melbourne against the Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta. After a playing time of 2 hours and 22 minutes, the Italian prevailed 7:5, 7:6 (4) and 6:4. It was an argument at eye level, in which the 25-year-old Roman was always able to gain a little bit in the important moments.
In the quarterfinals, the number seven of the Australian Open will face the strong showman Gael Monfils. Günter Bresnik's protégé celebrated a three-set victory over the Serb Miomir Kecmanovic. After 2:35 hours of play, the Frenchman was able to celebrate a 7:5,-7:6-(4),-6:3 win over number 77 in the ATP world rankings and thus a result that was almost the same as his next competitor in his round of 16 game. It is the 35-year-old's second quarter-final appearance in the first Grand Slam tournament of the year after 2016. Last year, Monfils even had to say goodbye to the Finn Emil Ruusuvuori in five rounds in the first round.
