Michael Kohlmann on ...

... the performance of the German players in the qualification for the Australian Open 2020:

Of course it is not optimal to get only one out of ten people. But at least one. A few of our players were a bit battered, with others the shape was not there, some played here for the first time. But I really liked Peter Gojowczyk.

... the game of Alexander Zverev against Marco Cecchinato

For Sascha actually a very good draw. Cecchinato is not a dedicated hard court specialist. I think Sascha trained a lot, which he said himself. I'm curious to see how it presents itself here. I wish him to win that in three sets.

... the game of Peter Gojowczyk against Christopher Eubanks

I think that Gojo generally looks very good against players who have a good serve. No matter whether against Raonic, Isner, Karlovic or anyone else. Since he has very good balance sheets. And I'm also very positive that he got a very good draw with Chris Eubanks. And I hope that he took his good form from qualifying into the main field.

... the game Cedric-Marcel Stebe against Benoit Paire

Paire is the absolute surprise bag, anything can happen. Played final in Auckland last week. Paire can just get up and have a bad day. I hope so for Cedric. He is a tough opponent that you have to play away first. If Paire has any doubts, Cedric will get into the match. And then I hope for a surprise.

... the game of Philipp Kohlschreiber against Marcus Giron

Ohilipp has won the Challenger, is definitely in a good mood and has a lot of confidence. Giron is a very good draw. Here in melbourne it is a little slower than the challenger in Bendigo. But Philipp will definitely solve that.

... the game Dominik Koepfer against Pedro Martinez

Martinez got through the qualification easily and beat Julian Lenz there in the first round. But I believe that Dominik is definitely a favorite with his experiences from the US Open and his positive demeanor.

... the game Jan-Lennard Struff against Novak Djokovic

Of course this is probably the most difficult draw you don't have. The two trained together in Brisbane, and I think Djokovic is in great shape. But you never know. Best-of-five is very difficult. But I hope that Struffi, like in the other matches here - he has already played against Federer - sold well. And maybe take the very small chance. I'm looking forward to the match, which will be the first night session.
