The organizers of the Australian Open have not yet received a single medical exemption from unvaccinated tennis professionals. Tournament director Craig Tiley announced this on Wednesday, around four weeks before the kick-off on January 17th.

He reckons with a "very small percentage" of players without a vaccination, said Tiley. The world number one Novak Djokovic (Serbia) continues to make his vaccination status a secret, but is on the registration list - without a special permit, as is now certain.

"When Novak comes to the Australian Open, he will either be vaccinated or have a medical exemption," said Tiley. According to the decision of the state of Victoria, unvaccinated people are otherwise not allowed to compete, special exemptions are only granted for medical reasons.
