"You will soon find out," said Novak Djokovic after the Davis Cup with regard to his decision to participate in the Australian Open in 2022. It is still not clear whether the world number one will compete in Melbourne, but his fans can draw some hope: Djokovic, who does not want to reveal his vaccination status for personal reasons, appears on the entry list.

Roger Federer is also represented in the entry list. There is an even bigger question mark behind the start of the Swiss than Djokovic, as he recently categorically ruled out an appearance in Melbourne .

A start from Dominic Thiem and Rafael Nadal seems more realistic. Both are planning to appear at the Australian Open and will undergo an initial endurance test at the exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi after their injury breaks.

In any case, the Australian hopes can look forward to a tennis festival in view of the entry list: All players in the top 100 have entered for the first major tournament of the year. The coming weeks will bring more clarity about the actual field of participants. The Australian Open starts on January 17th.
