Novak Djokovic has a heart for the organizers of the Australian Open: After Serena Williams fought for almost three hours (ultimately unsuccessfully) against the departure against the Chinese Qiang Wang, the sevenfold Chanpion with Yoshihito Nishioka made short work. It was 6: 3, 6: 2 and 6: 2 after only 85 minutes of play, which guaranteed the punctual start of the night session in the Rod Laver Arena.

Djokovic had given a set against Jan-Lennard Struff in round one, but already looked inviolable in the next match against Tatsuma ito. So also against his compatriot Nishioka: The Serb gave only eight points during the entire game on his own serve. In the round of 16 Djokovic meets Diego Schwartzman, who prevented a duel between the two ATP Cup teammates with his three-set win against Dusan Lajovic.
