Australian Open: Ofner and Rodionov in the second qualifying round
Sebastian Ofner and Jurij Rodionov have successfully started the qualifying tournament at the Australian Open 2023. Sinja Kraus, on the other hand, was eliminated.

If in step, then with the same result: And so Sebastian Ofner and Jurij Rodionov progressed one round on the first day of the qualifying competition for the Australian Open with 7: 6 and 6: 4.
Rodionov won against the Romanian Nicholas Ionel (and the tiebreak in set one with 7: 1) and now meets Adrian Andreev. Ofner prevailed against Felipe Meligeni Alves 7: 6 (6) and 6: 4 - and in round two he has to deal with the number one of the qualification, the Chilean Alejandro Tabilo.
With Filip Misolic, a third Austrian is in action on Monday. Dominic Thiem has already secured his starting place in the main field of the first major of 2023 due to a wildcard.
Sinja Kraus, on the other hand, had no chance and lost to Magdalena Frech 2:6 and 0:6.
