Philipp Oswald's journey to Australia in 2021 was arduous, included a 14-day tough quarantine and a brief appearance at the ATP Cup - and from a sporting perspective it came to an end on Wednesday. Since the Vorarlberg and partner Marcus Daniell lost to the fifth seed pair Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury with 6: 7 (6) and 2: 6.

Oswald was one of three Austrians who tried their hand at doubles in the first Grand Slam tournament in 2021. Oliver Marach with Robin Haase and returning Julian Knowle with Lloyd Harris had already failed in round one.
