The first qualifying round did not go according to plan for Peter Gojowczyk and Oscar Otte, who went into their matches as favorites but lost them in two sets. Mischa Zverev, who slipped into the draw thanks to a wildcard, and Rudi Molleker also have to give up early on, for both of them a three-set defeat after winning the opening round.
The first qualifying round went better for Yannick Maden. The German defeated the Japanese Takumi Ito in his opening match in two clear sets. For Maden, tomorrow, Tuesday against Maxime Cressy, it will be about making it into the final qualifying round. Julian Lenz, who should have the upper hand in a crazy match against the Argentine Renzo Olivo, is fighting for this. For Lenz it is now against the number seven seeded Damir Dzumhur.
Gerlach surprised
Among the women, only one German should get into the action on Monday. Katharina Gerlach created the big surprise and took number eight on the seeding list, Stefanie Vögele, 6: 3 and 6: 4 from the qualification. Gerlach now meets the Japanese Mayo Hibi.
