Rodionov faces the experienced Serb Viktor Troicki in Doha. Ofner meets the Croatian Borna Gojo. The 34-year-old Troicki is in the current ATP world rankings on position 202. Should Rodionov, who was seeded as number 23, prevail, round two will either face Ulisses Branch from the USA or Andrey Kuznetsov from Russia.
The winner of the match between Lorenzo Giustino and Denis Istomin would wait for Ofner.
In the women's qualification tournament in Dubai, Barbara Haas, who is 32nd, faces Maria Camila Osorio Serrano. Julia Grabher plays against Na-Lae Han from Korea.
