The Rod Laver Arena will open with a hit at the Australian Open 2021: Naomi Osaka, winner in Melbourne 2019, will kick off against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (live on Eurosport from 01:00 CET). Immediately afterwards, Serena Williams, who last won in 2017, has to play. Serena starts her attack on the 24th major title against Laura Siegemund. Sister Venus Williams plays the first match in the Maragaret Court Arena against Kirsten Flipkens, after which Angelique Kerber, winner of 2016, can try against Bernarda Pera from the USA.
The matches of the Nights Session (from 9:00 a.m. CET on Monday) will be played on the large courts with Simona Halep against the Australian Lizette Cabrera and Petra Kvitova against Greet Minnen. We can certainly look forward to the comeback of Bianca Andreescu after a break of more than a year, who will meet Mikaela Buzarnescu in the third game in the John Cain Arena.
French Open Champion Iga Swiatek starts in the second game of the 1573 Arena against Arantxa Rus, followed by Andre Petkovic, who has to prove herself against Ons Jabeur.
