Rafael Nadal will also serve in Melbourne on Tuesday

After a great first day of the tournament at the Australian Open, which came to a worthy end with the match between Denis Shapovalov and Jannik Sinner , some more great matches are on the program on Tuesday. Among other things, the 20-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal will kick off the competition for the men, while for the women the fans can look forward to local hero Ashleigh Barty and defending champion Sofia Kenin.

It will also be the American who will open the day in the Rod Laver Arena at 01:00 a.m. CET against the Australian wildcard holder Maddison Inglis. Afterwards, Elina Svitolina and Marie Bouzkova face each other in the largest stadium in the facility, before Rafael Nadal will play his first match of the season against Laslo Djere. The Spaniard had canceled the ATP Cup due to back problems , but reportedly completed a painless training session on Monday.

The night session in the Rod Laver Arena is heralded by world number one Ashleigh Barty. She will meet Danka Kovinic from 9:00 a.m. CET, before the program is rounded off by Stefanos Tsitsipas and Gilles Simon.

Three Germans in action

Another highlight game for the men will take place in the Margaret Court Arena. In the third match after 01:00 CET there will be ATP Finals Champion Daniil Medvedev and Vasek Pospisil. Previously, last year's finalists Garbine Muguruza and Victoria Azarenka will play in the second largest arena in Melbourne Park. In the night session there is a clash between Kevin Anderson and Matteo Berrettini or Daria Gavrilova and Sara Sorribes Tormo.

German tennis fans get their money's worth early on on the second day of the tournament: Both Yannick Hanfmann (vs. Andrey Rublev, 02:00 CET, John Cain Arena) and Jan-Lennard Struff (vs. Christopher O'Connell, 01:00 CET , Court 7) will play the first game on their court. A little later, however, Mona Barthel will be in action: Her encounter against Elisabetta Cocciaretto is scheduled as the fourth after 01:00 CET on Court 16.
