She is the first woman from the 128-strong field of participants in whom the Sars-CoV-2 virus was detected.

"I don't feel well, I have symptoms," tweeted the number 67 in the world rankings, which is now being observed in isolation in another hotel. This increases the number of people directly involved in the tournament and who tested positive to eleven.

So far, more than 1000 players, coaches and supervisors have arrived in Melbourne on 17 charter flights. There were some people on the planes from Los Angeles and Dubai who tested positive after arrival. The passengers from Dubai included Angelique Kerber from Kiel, who has since been in a strict 14-day quarantine.

The first Grand Slam tournament of the year has been postponed to February 8-21 due to the pandemic.

Badosa had surprisingly reached the last sixteen by Roland Garros, where Laura Siegemund was defeated.
