With 6: 0, 6: 3 and 6: 2, Tsitsipas beat the Italian Salvatore Caruso and showed that he can be expected in Melbourne. Tsitsipas was completely convincing, especially when he served, he did not allow anything - Caruso did not hit a breakball. The Greek shot 27 winners on the other side, with only 16 mistakes without need.

The world ranking sixth was cheered on by many Greek fans who live in Melbourne. "Sometimes you cross the line. But I love you," he joked afterwards.

Tsitsipas meets Philipp Kohlschreiber or Marcos Giron in round 2.
