Bianca Andreescu will probably not have the best memories of 2020. The Canadian has not been able to play a single match on the WTA tour this season. The reason for this is a knee injury that the 20-year-old sustained in October last year.

Andreescu has now announced that she will not return to the international tennis stage this year either. "I made the difficult decision to skip the clay court season and the rest of the year so I can focus on my health and training," wrote last year's US Open winner on Twitter.

"It was difficult to make this decision, but there are many tasks ahead of us in 2021, including the Olympics. I want to use the time now to focus on my game and then come back better than ever before," the world number seven continued.

After the Canadian's cancellation, three top ten players will be missing from the French Open: Ashleigh Barty, Naomi Osaka and Andreescu. The draw for the third Grand Slam tournament of the year will take place on Thursday.
