No tennis Bundesliga in 2020 - the German Tennis Federation announced on Thursday afternoon. The official start of the game would have been July 5, 2020. The 2nd Bundesliga will not take place either.

“The decision to cancel all matches in the first and second tennis Bundesliga was not an easy one for us. We decided this in close consultation with all of the clubs concerned and ultimately came to the conclusion that the health of everyone involved and the further containment of the spread of the COVID-19 pathogen are currently a top priority, ”DTB President Ulrich Klaus is quoted as saying.

In the 1st Tennis Bundesliga this concerns 10 teams, in the 2nd Bundesliga a total of 18 teams (9 in the 2nd Bundesliga North, 9 in the 2nd Bundesliga South).

This means there will be no promoted or relegated players in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga this season. The men's 30 Bundesliga (with seven teams each in the north and south) will not take place either.

The women's Bundesliga games had already been canceled on March 23 and should have started at the beginning of May.
