Craig Tiley - Australian Open set to begin on February 8, 2021

Later than expected, but at least now apparently fixed: The Australian Open should start on February 8, 2020. This is reported by several Australian media. It was only on Tuesday that Craig Tiley, head of Tennis Australia, announced in a report that negotiations with the authorities in the state of Victoria were well advanced.

Now it looks like the players will have to be in quarantine for 14 days from January 15th. During this time, however, are allowed to train. Then there would be the opportunity to play for the first major of the year. Under which circumstances or in which formats is not yet known. However, Tiley emphasized that the Australian Open would take place in front of spectators.
