What stage of the Davis Cup are we in?
On Friday, March 4th and Saturday, March 5th, the Davis Cup qualifiers for the group stage will be played. Germany meets Brazil. A total of twelve matches are scheduled for the next two days. In September, the twelve winners will then join the already qualified nations Russia (currently excluded from all international team competitions due to the war in Ukraine) and Croatia (last year's finalists), as well as Great Britain and Serbia (wildcards) for places in the final phase out at the end of November. The twelve losers also have to fight for relegation to World Group I in September.
Where is the game played?
From a German perspective, the international match will take place away in the Parque Olimpico Arena in Rio de Janeiro. The game will be played outdoors on a clay court with temperatures expected to be around 30 degrees. Rio de Janeiro is the second largest city in Brazil and is home to almost seven million people.

What are the teams like and when will the games be played?
If everything went according to paper, the world number three Alexander Zverev should meet either Felipe Meligeni Rodrigues Alves (ATP 210) or Thiago Seyboth Wild (ATP 216) on Friday. Brazilian number one Thiago Monteiro is likely to deal with Jan-Lennard Struff - but Oscar Otte would also be a conceivable alternative. The order of the individual games will be drawn at around 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening. What is fixed, however, is that the second matchday will start at 6:00 p.m. CET with the doubles between Kevin Krawietz / Tim Pütz and Bruno Soares / Marcelo Melo. This is followed by the duels of the two ones of the respective teams and the final individual. Long-term captain Michael Kohlmann leads the DTB team, his Brazilian counterpart is Jamie Oncins.
