Dennis Novak lost to Soon-woo Kwon in straight sets

After the clear two-set defeat by Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler , Dennis Novak started the game against Soon-woo Kwon with additional pressure, which the Austrian was ultimately unable to withstand despite a solid performance. Kwon prevailed in Seoul with 7:5 and 7:5 and thus got the all-important point for his country.

Novak led 5: 4 in the first set, but then Kwon secured the next six games and thus the supposed preliminary decision. The Austrian number one made up both breaks and took the lead again in the second half with 5:4.

Austria is playing against relegation

But as in the first round, Kwon acted a bit more stable at the end of a set and won the three games that followed. After an hour and 42 minutes of play, the world number 65 converted. his first match point for a 7:5 and 7:5 success.

Austria's defeat is official even before the last single between Jurij Rodionov and Ji Sung Nam. Jürgen Melzer's team will play in the play-off against relegation to World Group I in September, while South Korea is in the group stage of the final tournament.
