The surprise package for Peter Gojowczyk at the beginning was nothing. After a nervous performance, the Munich was defeated by the strong Brit Dan Evans with 2: 6, 1: 6.

Gojowczyk had big problems with the serve right from the start, looked tense and was never really able to unpack his offensive, risky tennis. He was quickly behind with a double break and 0: 4, and Evans also took the service from him in the second half. Number 25 in the ATP ranking played his famous clever game with the soulful backhand slice and the offensive forehand. And above all, he played almost without any slight mistakes: it was only 8 at the end, compared to 29 for Gojowczyk.

Wonderful: Evans' slice ball for the second break and 4: 1 - the decision. In the end, Evans slammed two backhands past Gojowczyk to a well-deserved victory.

Gojowczyk had moved to the second individual position for Dominik Koepfer, according to team boss Michael Kohlmann due to his strong training impressions and the 2-0 record against opponent Evans - the matches, however, came from Challenger tournaments in 2013 and 2016. /

It is now up to Jan-Lennard Struff (ATP No. 51) to equalize in the top game against Cameron Norrie. Norrie (ATP No. 12) is also a favorite in this game.
