Davis Cup: Spain, Serbia and Germany fight for the semi-finals

On the quarter-final day of the Davis Cup final in Madrid, Spain, Serbia and Germany are competing for their place in the round of the last four.

The sigh of relief, it was great when the spearheaded by Rafael Nadal Spain qualified for the quarter-finals. The Iberians are, of course, Ticketellers number one in Madrid, so a retirement in the group stage would have been a mediocre drama for Gerard Pique, David Haggerty and Co.

In the round of the last eight, the men of Sergi Bruguera after victories over Russia and Croatia now on Argentina. Roberto Bautista Agut, who left the team following his father's passing away on Thursday, will be out of the party. In addition to Nadal, Pablo Carreno Busta will probably play singles, Diego Schwartzman and Guido Pella will play for the gauchos. In the doubles, Maximo Gonzalez / Leonardo Mayer will compete with Marcel Granollers / Feliciano Lopez, but Nadal's appearance does not seem to be ruled out either.

Canada already in the semifinals

Serbia and Russia will face each other as early as 10:30. The Serbs are considered the favorites due to past performances by Novak Djokovic, but with Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev, the Russians have two outstanding individual players.

In the third quarter-final, there is a duel between Germany and Great Britain. While in Germany with Philipp Kohlschreiber, Jan-Lennard Struff and Kevin Krawietz / Andreas Mies will build on the long-standing lineup, it will be interesting to see if in the UK Andy Murray will be back after his break on Thursday.

Canada is already fix in the semi-final. The North Americans defeated Australia 2-1 and are now waiting for the winner of the match between Serbia and Russia.
