Davis Cup: unbeaten Spaniard in the semifinals
Spain threw Argentina out of the race in the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup final tournament. A double victory of Rafael Nadal and Marcel Granollers promoted the Spaniards in the semi-final.

Argentina did not turn out to be a party crusher for host Spain in the Davis Cup final in Madrid. The victorious team of 2016 left the home team in the quarterfinals the lead.
