"You always have to find a drive from wherever you are," said Djokovic on the sidelines of an invitation tournament in Abu Dhabi: "I think it's always about finding the meaning and purpose of why you are playing especially in recent years not just about winning a tennis game or a cup. "

With 16 Grand Slam titles, the 32-year-old is in third place on the all-time leaderboard, with only Roger Federer (20 titles) and Rafael Nadal (19) ahead of him. In order to perfect his own legacy, the Serb wants to intercept his two permanent rivals from the past few years. "That is a goal. I am motivated to break my own records and push my limits," said Djokovic.

In principle, however, Djokovic wants to leave something beyond sports: "It has to be something that is greater than my achievements. Something that is understood as an inheritance, something that inspires the lives of other people and especially children."
