Bad news for all Austrian tennis fans: Dominic Thiem will not start in the first Grand Slam tournament of the year. The Austrian announced on Tuesday on social media. "As you all know, I returned to Austria to recover from the tough training sessions and the small setback in Dubai," explained Thiem.

Now the Austrian feels much better, the wrist is in an "optimal" condition. "I prepare normally with a very good intensity," wrote the former world number three. Together with his team, however, he has now made the decision not to return to the ATP tour until the end of February in Cordoba and therefore not to start at the Australian Open.
