Donna Vekic and Torben Beltz go their separate ways

Torben Beltz was on the side of Donna Vekic on the WTA tour for a good two and a half years . Previously, the German Angelique Kerber was under his wing, sitting in the box with two of her three Grand Slam titles. The collaboration between Donna Vekic and Torben Beltz began immediately after the separation with the German number one, which brought good results to light especially in 2018 and 2019.

When Beltz started his coaching work with the Croatian, she was only in 54th place in the WTA world rankings, today Vekic is already in 24th place. In the meantime, the 24-year-old made the jump to the top 20 in the world with 19th place. This was largely due to the fact that Vekic played in 2018 and 2019 in addition to several semi-finals in three finals of WTA tournaments and achieved their best result so far in a Grand Slam with the quarter-finals at the 2019 US Open.

A few weeks before Vekic is going to New York City again, the Croatian is without a trainer: Because, as Beltz announced on Instagram, they had different views on the organization of the training or the creation of the tournament calendar to resume the tour, why they had decided to go their separate ways.

An assessment with which Donna Vekic does not d'accord, as expressed on Twitter. The Croatian replied to the same posting as Beltz had already shared on Instagram: "Well, this is the first time that I have heard of different views in training and in the tournament plans ..." Her German coach still has one answer to date guilty.

Even if the reasons for the separation still raise questions, you can be pretty sure that it is final: With "Thank you Donna for the past 2.5 years, it was a great trip and I have our time together always enjoyed. Good luck for the future. Ready for a new adventure, "Beltz ended his Instagram statement and has obviously already set sail for the future.
