Great news for Austrian tennis fans: the reigning US Open winner Emma Raducanu will be competing at the WTA 250 tournament in Linz from November 6th to 12th. After her cancellation for the 500 event in Moscow, the 18-year-old has no mathematical chance of qualifying for the WTA Finals in Guadalajara. Thus, as announced, the Briton will serve in Upper Austria.

With a win in Moscow Raducanu could have scored 500 points, but for the first-time participation in the WTA Finals another triumph in Cluj would probably have been necessary. Before the event in Indian Wells, where Raducanu was eliminated in the second round, she was 489 points short of eighth and final qualifying place. She has reconsidered her tournament planning - probably also in view of the early end in the Californian desert - according to Raducanu, who is firmly planning to participate in Cluj and Linz.

The "replacement program" is definitely a pleasure for Raducanu. "I've heard a lot about Linz, about the feel-good atmosphere created there for the players and how many legends have already won the title there. I'm really looking forward to coming to Austria and being in front of the great fans in Linz play ", she had already explained a few weeks ago.

The competition in the Upper Austrian capital is quite tough for the teenage girl. Among others, Danielle Collins, Veronika Kudermetova, Ekaterina Alexandrova, Sorana Cirstea, Viktorija Golubic, Petra Martic and Ajla Tomljanovic will compete in Linz.
