You have to celebrate the festivals as they come. Accordingly, the newly crowned US Open winner Emma Radcuanu attended the New York Met Gala on Monday - and announced that she did not know the time for her return: "Maybe I will return to training early next week, I am myself not sure." In view of this statement, the next tournament start is also in the stars.

However, Raducanu is very familiar with breaks from tennis anyway. During the corona pandemic, the world rankings closed 23. Her school career ended at the request of her parents, the British woman did not pick up a racket for a total of 18 months. "After that, I played every match like my last. That's how I designed it all summer," explained the 18-year-old.

Raducanu only made her debut at WTA level in June of this year. After a first round in Nottingham, the teenager reached the round of 16 at Wimbledon completely surprisingly, in New York the next sensational run culminated, as is well known, in winning the title. However, she has not yet fully realized the extent of her victory.

You can now at least remember having won a major tournament. "It's a fun feeling," said Raducanu. Further Grand Slam titles are to follow if possible - the British woman seems to be laying the foundation for this again with the upcoming break.
