“After this summer the guys really have a real chance to play for the title. Both of them have always done well this year. ”This is how national coach Peter Pfannkoch put it before the start of the European Junior Championships. And the coach's optimism has proven to be justified: because both of the young players addressed, Justin Engel and Max Schönhaus, met expectations. And they competed in the grand finale at the Monte Carlo Country Club on Friday.

Schönhaus won this with 7: 5 and 7: 5. Engel won the big youth tournament in Paris earlier this year. On the way to the final in Monte Carlo, Schönhaus had defeated the Czech Maxim Mrva, who was in first place, in three sets, on the first day Engel beat number three of the event, Egor Gorin from Russia, 6: 2 and 6 : 4.
