French Open 2022: Rune stops Gaston, Ruud survives a five-set battle
After a three-set win over Hugo Gaston ,Holger Rune is in the round of 16 of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in his career. In addition, Casper Ruud also made it into the round of 16 - but not without drama.

Great success for Holger Rune : The only 19-year-old Dane is in the round of 16 at the French Open. In the third round, the world number 40 sat down. against the local hero Hugo Gaston clearly with 6: 3, 6: 3 and 6: 3. On Monday, Rune will face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first Grand Slam round of 16 of his career, who had no problems at all against Mikael Ymer .
It was similar in the night session on the Philippe-Chatrier court for Rune, who didn't let himself be disturbed by Gaston's early break in the first sentence. After less than two hours of play, the Dane turned his second match point into a victory that was never in jeopardy. Thus, Rune remained in Paris without losing a set.
Casper Ruud, who was eighth, had to fight much harder. The Norwegian was faced with a 1-2 set deficit against Lorenzo Sonego, but ultimately won 6-2, 6-7 (3), 1-6, 6-4 and 6-3. He faces Hubert Hurkacz in the last 16.
