Rodionov defeated the Italian Mateo Viola 6: 4, 7: 6 (3) and thus followed Sebastian Ofner in round 2 of the qualifying tournament. Rodionov now meets Roman Safiullin, Ofner meets Elias Ymer.

Should both Rodionov and Ofner win their second round matches, they would have to play against each other in the qualifying final for a place in the main draw.

Meanwhile, Barbara Haas experienced a real tremor. The 24-year-old was already leading against Daria Snigur 6: 0, 5: 0 and 40:30 - and still had to go into set three. There both players gave up all their service games up to 4: 3 for Haas; at 5: 4 Haas then again missed two match points on his own serve. Ultimately, she broke Snigur again, took match point number four with a difficult forehand volley and finally used it to win.

In round 2 she now plays against compatriot Julia Grabher or Allie Kiick, the two play against each other on Wednesday.
