With the fifth match ball, Alexandra Vecic finished her first round match against Lena Lutzeier after two hours and 58 and was still not completely satisfied. "Of course I'm happy that I'm in the next round, but of course it's annoying that I made it exciting despite a clear leadership," said the 17-year-old reigning German U18 champion.

Quickly the player of the Porsche Junior Team was ahead with 6: 0, 3: 1, then dropped a bit and brought Lena Lutzeier back into the match. The 24-year-old, the # 1 US College Ranking last year, had her first of a total of eight match balls in the tiebreak of the crucial set at 6: 4. But Vecic showed her fighter heart, fended them all off and finished the match with a Winnerschlag along the line to 17:15 in the set extension. "I've never played such a long tiebreak before. But somehow it was fun and showed that I am definitely fit, "said Vecic, who is facing tomorrow's Thursday with the three seeded Jule Niemeier (TC Bad Vilbel) from the Porsche Talent Team Germany.

In addition to the nine first round matches on the fourth day of the national title fights in Upper Swabia were also five matches of the second round on the plan. Dominik Böhler (TC Bad Schussenried, position 5), Anna Klassen (TC BW Berlin, 7) and Sina Herrmann (SSC Karlsruhe, 8), Johann Willems (TC Wolfsberg Pforzheim, 6) and Hannes Wagner (TC Schießgraben Augsburg, 8) also the first seeded players at the start.

While the six seeded Willems by the 6: 4, 6: 3 against Frederik Press (Großflottbeker THGC) qualified as the first of the men's competition for the quarter-finals, the tournament is already finished for the seven seeded Klasen. The 26-year-old Berliner lost to Julia Middendorf (TC Visbek) from the Porsche Junior Team. The 16-year-old won 6: 4, 7: 6 (7: 5) and was very happy afterwards. "It's great that I'm in the quarter-finals of the German Championships for the first time. It was a tough one, because Anna hits very hard and on this fast ground it is difficult to get into the rhythm. That's why I'm happy about this achievement. "Also failed is Sina Herrmann. Julia Wachazcyk (Tennis Park Versmold) was 3-6, 6-1, 4-6 down to the eighteen-year-old. In contrast, Wagner held in the 6: 3, 7: 5 against last year's semi-finalist Osman Torski (TC GW Nikolassee).

The match between Benedict Kurz (TA VfL Sindelfingen) and Dominik Böhler (TC Bad Schussenried) started as the last match of the day. This game was not finished at the editorial deadline. In parallel, the mixed competition started in the evening.

On Thursday, the games start at 12 o'clock. There are eleven seeded players, among them the top seed Katharina Hobgarski (TC Bredeney Essen) and Julian Lenz (TC Bad Homburg).
