German championships: Eva Lys wins title
Successful season finale for Eva Lys: The player from the Porsche Talent Team won the German tennis championship in Biberach an der Riss. In the final on Sunday, the 19-year-old from Hamburg beat Mara Guth from the Porsche Junior Team 6: 2, 6: 4.

In the first meeting of the players supported by Porsche and the German Tennis Association, Eva Lys confidently secured the first set. In the second round, Mara Guth took command. The 18-year-old Hessin from TC Bad Vilbel, who knocked out the top seeded Nastasja Schunk from the Porsche Talent Team in the quarter-finals, was already 4-2 in the lead. But Eva Lys fought back and converted her second match point after 1:35 minutes.
In her career, Eva Lys, who came to Germany with her parents from Ukraine in 2004, has won two ITF W25 tournaments so far: in March 2020 in Altenkirchen, in October 2021 in Istanbul. She has already sniffed the Grand Slam air - at the Australian Open in 2020 when she qualified for the junior competition. At the Hamburg European Open 2020 she played in the qualification of a WTA tournament for the first time. In the world rankings she is currently in 339th position. She is professionally promoted in the Porsche Talent Team. “It's a great honor to be part of this team,” she says. In the past few years she had to put up with a lot of setbacks, but didn't let that discourage her: “I was injured quite often, but never let go. That shaped me. "
Although defending champion Noma Noha Akugue from the Porsche Junior Team was absent from this 50th German Championship due to an injury, the junior teams supported by Porsche were well represented. A total of nine players from the Porsche Talent Team and Porsche Junior Team competed in Biberach. Three of them made it to the quarter-finals, two into the final. And Eva Lys celebrated one of her greatest successes by winning the title.
