Timo Stodder (LTTC "Rot-Weiß" Berlin) fended off four set balls before he left the place at the WTB base as the winner. Qualifier Tom Schöneberg (HTC Blau-Weiß Krefeld) showed a committed performance for two hours and twelve minutes, but had to watch how Stodder got the upper hand in the decisive moments. In the end, the top seeded Berliner is with a 7: 5, 7: 6 (8: 6) success in the quarter-finals of the German championships.

Another favorite for the title also has chances of winning the title. Henri Squire (Rochusclub Düsseldorf) ensured clear conditions against Bastian Presuhn (Suchsdorfer Sportverein from 1921) and won 6: 4, 6: 3. However, he was not entirely satisfied with his performance: "I did not start so well, but then I got better and better and tried to win the points over longer rallies." Nevertheless, the 21-year-old only got up for an hour and 14 minutes the place and will be rested in the upcoming match against his teammate Leopold Zima. "I don't feel in top form yet, but I'm trying to implement a lot of new things at this tournament and therefore don't just pay attention to the result," said Squire.

The top seeded Nastasja Schunk celebrated a relaxed two-set success. This year's Billie Jean King Cup qualifier won her match after one hour and 23 minutes 6: 3, 6: 2 against qualifier Ellen Linsenbolz. Another player from the Porsche junior team, Mara Guth, is now waiting for the quarter-finals.

Stefan Seifert causes a surprise

In a hard-fought game, Stefan Seifert unexpectedly defeated Christoph Negritu, who was seeded at three. For a long time Negritu - who won the first set 6-2 - looked like the clear winner. His opponent, however, never gave up and managed to turn things around for the later 2: 6, 6: 4, 7: 5. Seifert on his success: “I haven't played any tournaments in the last two years and that's why I'm so low on the seeding list. I'm very satisfied with my game today, even if it was a close match and Christoph served well. In the one or two decisive service games I consistently played in my returns and so I was able to achieve the breaks that made the difference today. "
