For the fifth time, tennis fans around the world were called upon to cast their votes for candidates for induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island. Although the results of this vote are only a first, small indicator of whether a player actually makes it into the Hall of Fame, a jury of former professionals, journalists and a committee from the Hall still has the greatest influence.

The fan vote, in which tennis freaks from more than 150 countries took part, is definitely good for testing sensitivities. And Cara Black, the pairs skating specialists from Zimbabwe, who has won ten major titles in women's and mixed doubles in her career, can feel like a winner. Black got the most votes, followed by Ana Ivanovic and Carlos Moya.

What can Cara Black buy from it now? After all, a three percent surcharge on the voting quotient determined by the jury. Ivanovic gets an additional two percent, Moya one. A total of 75 percent of the votes cast is required. In the summer of 2022, the last "class" so far, Lleyton Hewitt, got its own shrine in Newport .
