Hamburg European Open: Siniakova takes out two Kasatkina seeded
The first big surprise at the Hamburg European Open came on Sunday.

Katerina Siniakova beat second seeded Daria Kasatkina on the opening day of the women's main draw: 6:2, 2:6, 6:4 it was for the Czech in the end, in singles "only" ranked 93 (in doubles she is world number 3.). Kasatkina was world number 12. started as the clear favourite. Especially after her performances in Roland Garros, where she had reached the first semifinals at a major.
Most recently, however, Kasatkina was doomed to watch, and Russian players were excluded from the tournament at Wimbledon.
Pleasing from a German point of view: the performance of Sabine Lisicki, who also secured her place in the main draw on Sunday by winning the qualifying final . There she meets Aleksandra Krunic.
Among others in action on Monday: Eva Lys against Maria Carle, Andrea Petkovic against Tamara Korpatsch and Nastasja Schunk against Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
