Iga Swiatek and the demonstration of power in Doha: "Honestly, it doesn't matter"

Iga Swiatek impressively showed off her strength at the WTA 500 event in Doha. However, the fact that the Pole was able to win her matches so clearly does not trigger any emotions in the world number one.

The first title win in 2023 for the world number one Iga Swiatek, it quickly "degenerated" into the absolute demonstration of power by the Pole. Last year's winner gave up just five games in Doha on the way to defending her title - even against Jessica Pegula, who had disenchanted the Pole at the start of the season at the United Cup, the number one in the women's tennis world did not show any weakness at all.

However, the fact that the victories in Doha were so clear makes little difference for Swiatek: "Honestly, I don't care how many games I've won or lost, I feel like I've really found my rhythm here after a difficult start to the season found," said the Pole, who will also be the favorite in a top-ranked hard court tournament in Dubai starting next week.

Swiatek finds her strength

An enormously important victory for the world number one, who has to defend a not inconsiderable part of her points in the coming weeks. Especially since she was able to find her strength again, the focus on the pitch: "I was able to concentrate from the beginning to the end of the matches," Swiatek summed up. "I'm pretty happy with my performance."

The world number one then used the opportunity of the award ceremony to point out the situation in Ukraine again: "We should all support the Ukrainians in everything they have to deal with every day. It is disappointing that the situation is not changing, but hopefully they will remain strong", Swiatek sent a strong signal.
