A look at the double tableau is always worthwhile, but in Indian Wells a closer look. Because in the tennis paradise in the Californian desert, a few top players often do the honors, who are usually only seen individually. /

This will also be the case in 2022. And of course the first glance falls on Thanasi Kokkinakis and Nick Kyrgios: The two Australians, who sensationally won the Australian Open at the beginning of the year, are making another guest appearance. And with a good run, they could take a closer look at their participation in the ATP Finals in Turin at the end of the year.

Kokkinakis and Kyrgios meet two doubles with Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo at the start, and the upper part of the tableau is tough anyway: The winner of the duel meets either the top seeded Nikola Mektic/Mat Pavic. They in turn have to compete with John Isner and Jack Sock in round 1. Sock is currently only number 143 in doubles, but had cleared up a lot in 2018 as a replacement for the injured Bob Bryan: With his brother Mike, he won six titles at the time, including in Wimbledon, at the US Open and the ATP Finals, and played himself up to number 2 in the world.

Alexander Zverev is also back in doubles

Also in the field and not just an eye-catcher: Feliciano Lopez and Stefanos Tsitsipas, plus the youngster duo Sebastian Korda and Jannik Sinner and the Spanish combo Carlos Alcaraz/Pablo Carreno Busta.

And Alexander Zverev is doing the honors again, despite the Acapulco action , this time together with Andrey Golubev it's against Dan Evans and Karen Khachanov, even if the referees behind the scenes are probably still pulling matches to see who has to be on the hot seat here .

And from the "experts" in doubles: Of course, Tim Pütz/Michael Venus (against Hubert Hurkacz/Lukasz Kubot) and Kevin Krawietz/Andreas Mies are also there. "Kramies" have to play against two seeded Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury right at the start.

To the entire double draw
