The tennis circus is slowly moving towards Miami, some men are already cavorting at the Challenger in Phoenix. However, the big decisions are still pending in Indian Wells. And tonight three final pairings will be determined:
- First of all, there are the women: Maria Sakkari meets Aryna Sabalenka in the first semi-final (from 11 p.m. CET, live on the Tennis Channel). Sabalenka has won four of the seven matches so far, but the last two went to Sakkari.
- The defending champion Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina play against each other not before 2 a.m. our time. It will be only the third encounter between the two. The premiere went to Swiatek in Ostrava in 2021, and Rybakina was able to return the favor at the Australian Open earlier this year.
- The center court will open this Friday with two women's doubles games: First, the outstanding couple of our time, Katerina Sinakova and Barbora Krejcikova, will play against the two Japanese players Shuko Aoyama and Ena Shibahara from 7 p.m. CET. After that it will be exciting from a German perspective: Because Laura Siegemund could move into the final alongside Beatrice Haddad Maia against Miyu Kato and Aldila Sutjiadi.
- Things get serious for the defending men's champions from behind: Jack Soc and John Isner will duel in Stadium 1 with Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden from 4 a.m. CET. The only match taking place at Stadium 2 is between Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski against Santiago Gonzalez and Edouard Roger-Vasselin.
