Dietloff von Arnim has received positive feedback after announcing his candidacy for President of the World Tennis Federation. The 63-year-old said this on Saturday after talks on the sidelines of the Australian Open.

"The support we are receiving from other nations and their presidents is currently quite positive," said von Arnim, who has been at the helm of the German Tennis Association (DTB) for two years: "You want to get to know our program. We as a team first have to really listen to what the nations expect."

The election of the ITF President will take place at the Congress in Cancun/Mexico in September this year. The American David Haggerty has been leading the world association since 2015 and recently had to accept criticism for the unrest surrounding the Davis Cup, the future design of which is open after the early end of the partnership with investor Kosmos.

"We have to rethink the format. It didn't work," von Arnim said, adding that a permanent game mode had to be found. Constant changes would damage the traditional team competition.

Should he be elected, von Arnim said he wanted to improve communication between the ITF and the member associations: "We could learn a lot more from each other," he said.
